The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has declared the Round 1 seat allotment result for counselling 2026. Candidates who registered for the counselling process can now check their allotment status.The allotment result has been released based on candidates’ JEE Main or JEE Advanced ranks, category, seat availability and the choices they submitted during the counselling process. Students can view the institute and course allotted to them by using their application number and password.Candidates who have been allotted a seat in the first round must now complete the online reporting process between June 13 and June 26. This includes payment of the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF), uploading required documents, choosing an option among Freeze, Float or Slide, and completing document verification.The seat acceptance fee is Rs 30,000 for candidates in the general category and Rs 15,000 for those in reserved categories. Candidates who fail to pay the fee within the given deadline will not be allowed to continue in the counselling process.JoSAA is also expected to release the opening and closing ranks, commonly known as cut-offs, for IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). These ranks will be available on the official website after the seat allotment process.

Freeze, float, slide- explained for JoSAA counselling 2026
Candidates who accept their allotted seat have three options. Choosing “Freeze” means they are satisfied with the allotted institute and course and do not wish to participate in further rounds. “Float” allows them to accept the current seat while remaining eligible for a higher preferred choice in future rounds. “Slide” means they wish to keep the allotted institute but seek a better branch within the same institute.The last date to respond to any query related to uploaded documents is June 26. Candidates have been advised to complete all admission formalities within the prescribed timeline to avoid losing their allotted seat.
