At least three personnel of Pakistan’s Sindh Rangers and three suspected terrorists were killed after militants attacked a Rangers facility in Karachi.The attack began with an explosion, followed by heavy gunfire near the Rangers’ offices on a major road in Pakistan’s commercial capital. Reuters and local broadcasters ARY News and Geo News reported that the blast occurred close to several universities and the Pakistan Meteorological Department, triggering a large-scale security response.According to Al Jazeera, the explosion took place near a gate leading to the Rangers’ headquarters before armed assailants opened fire. Security forces, including the Rapid Response Force, police commandos and paramilitary personnel, rushed to the scene and sealed off the area as clashes continued.Speaking to Dawn, Inspector General Javed Alam Odho said initial reports indicated that three Rangers personnel and three attackers were killed during the assault on the paramilitary force’s local headquarters. Earlier, authorities had not confirmed the cause of the explosion or any casualties as the operation was still underway.Dawn News reported that law enforcement agencies quickly secured the locality, while additional security units were deployed to regain control. Officials have not yet identified the group responsible for the attack, and investigations into the incident are continuing.
