Lucknow: A demolition drive by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) against illegal plotting in Chinhat on Monday faced stiff resistance from the builders and their associates, forcing the team to halt the operation midway.The LDA team had reached a site near Kisan Path to take action against an unauthorised colony spread over nearly seven acres. Acting on court orders, officials began demolishing illegal structures using bulldozers when a group of people gathered and tried to disrupt the drive.Officials said the crowd surrounded the team and allegedly pelted stones at a JCB machine, creating panic at the site. As the situation turned tense, the team withdrew to prevent escalation.Zonal officer Devansh Trivedi said the drive would be conducted again with police protection.
