Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority is preparing a proposal to build a multi-level parking facility near Rashtra Prerna Sthal in the Basant Kunj scheme. The project will come up on a 21,216 sqmt plot in sector-J and is expected to cost about Rs150 crore. The proposal will be sent to the state govt for approval.Rashtra Prerna Sthal, spread over about 65 acres, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Dec 25, 2025. During the inauguration, temporary parking was arranged on vacant land nearby to manage more than 2,500 buses and other vehicles that arrived from different districts. While large public programmes are likely to continue at the venue, the parking space will ease the problem around the area. The plan also includes entry and exit plazas to regulate the movement of buses and other vehicles. Additionally, the upper floors will have a guest house with rooms, a meeting hall and a lounge for visitors.Officials said that the identified plot is located next to Rashtra Prerna Sthal and is connected by a 45-mt-wide road on one side and a 24-mt-wide road on the other, which is expected to help manage vehicle movement during events.LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the facility will have space for about 370 buses and more than 400 four-wheelers at a time. The structure will include parking on the ground, first and second floors, along with two basement levels.Officials said the proposed facility is intended to provide a permanent parking arrangement for such events and reduce congestion in the area.LDA officials said work on the project will begin after govt approval.
