Lucknow: Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has said that it will verify all the complaints related to illegal construction, including those received through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), before initiating enforcement action. The move comes amid reports that some people were repeatedly filing complaints to harass property owners.LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said that complaints received through IGRS, WhatsApp and other online platforms would be examined before any action was taken. He said grievance portals were sometimes being misused to settle personal disputes, causing mental and financial hardship to citizens.“No citizen will be harassed on the basis of incorrect or misleading complaints. The authority will identify habitual complainants found filing false or malicious complaints and lodge FIRs against them. Such complaints will also be referred to the competent department for investigation,” Kumar said.He urged people to report any harassment by outsiders or LDA employees to senior officials. The LDA has also directed engineers and enforcement staff to act only after verifying complaints. It has also barred unauthorised persons from collecting money in enforcement offices.
