Lucknow: Lucknow University announced its Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) policy on Tuesday, under which it will now cover patent filing fees for the faculty and students, which were previously borne by the individuals themselves.A dedicated intellectual property management (IPM) cell has also been established, which will act as the custodian of all intellectual property generated at the university.IPM cell coordinator Prof Geetanjali Misra stated that the cell will oversee patent filings, licensing, technology transfer, drafting agreements, appointing legal experts, maintaining documentation and educating faculty, students and staff about IPR. It will also establish partnerships for commercialisation and create an IPR fund to support patent filing from start to finish.“The policy defines the rights and responsibilities of faculty, researchers, students, staff and external collaborators.
