Lucknow: Lucknow University (LU) will launch value-added courses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all departments from the 2026-27 academic session to equip students with emerging technological skills.The initiative aims to enhance digital competence, foster innovation and prepare students for evolving career opportunities in governance, industry and research sectors. “AI is no longer limited to technical fields. By introducing AI courses, we aim to make students aware of its applications, ethical considerations and practical uses in their respective fields. This knowledge will empower them to integrate AI responsibly in governance, law, science and research,” said vice-chancellor Prof Jai Prakash Saini. While AI courses in law and computer science were already underway, the university has now extended the curriculum to all departments. The courses will include practical sessions and conceptual learning enabling students to earn a certificate upon completion. The programme is designed to provide foundational understanding as well as applied insights making it relevant for future professional scenarios. “Over the coming semesters, students will have hands-on workshops, project-based learning and interactions with AI experts to further strengthen their knowledge,” Saini added.
