Lucknow: Lucknow University has recorded a 64% surge in international applications for the 2026 -27 academic session, receiving 3,421 applications compared to 2,083 last year, with top applicants from Bangladesh (1,425), Nepal (200), Sudan (174), Nigeria (113) and Tanzania (101), alongside first-time applications from Argentina, Albania, Ecuador, Germany and Turkiye.Applications have been received from 77 countries this year, including Poland and Hungary. The total increase stands at 1,338 applications compared to the previous session, indicating a steady rise in international participation.Among the courses, undergraduate programmes received 2,552 applications, followed by 595 applications for postgraduate courses. A total of 274 applications have been received for PhD programmes.The distribution of applications shows participation from regions including South America, Asia, Africa and Europe.Vice-Chancellor Prof JP Saini said, “The university remains committed to providing a safe, inclusive and academically vibrant environment for international students. The university’s International Cell is currently processing applications and ensuring a smooth admission process. Steps such as document verification, eligibility checks and visa assistance are being carried out in a structured and timely manner to facilitate hassle-free enrolment for students.”
