Lucknow: Lucknow Bar Association (LBA) and Central Bar Association (CBA), Lucknow, on Thursday unanimously condemned the misuse of the legal profession by individuals allegedly engaging in unlawful activities under the cover of the black coat and resolved to take strict action against advocates found involved in unethical conduct. The resolutions were adopted at a joint meeting attended by current and former presidents and general secretaries of both associations. The meeting was chaired by LBA president GN Shukla and CBA president Akhilesh Jaiswal. In the first resolution, the associations denounced persons who, while wearing advocates’ attire, were said to be indulging in illegal activities. The second resolution voiced concern over what the associations described as harassment of innocent advocates and their family members by the police in various criminal cases. To address the issue, the associations decided to send a delegation to meet Justice Rajan Roy, Senior Judge of Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench, and Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan, Administrative Judge. In the third resolution, the associations said that if any advocate is found indulging in unethical or illegal acts while in advocates’ attire, LBA will initiate strict disciplinary action and refer the case to Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh for further proceedings.
