Lucknow: A 32-year-old medical trader was burnt alive after his car caught fire near Saraiya Mor in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area in the early hours of Friday, police said.The incident occurred around 12.30 am on the highway. By the time police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Firefighters later brought the blaze under control, but the occupant was found completely charred inside the car.ACP (BKT) Vikas Pandey said the body was located on the driver’s seat after the door was opened. The victim had been burnt beyond recognition and only skeletal remains were left. One hand was found lodged in the upper portion of the driver’s seat, indicating the intensity of the fire. A forensic team was called to the scene to collect samples and other evidence.Police initially could not identify the deceased. Using the vehicle’s registration number, investigators traced ownership to Almas Haq, a resident of Khurram Nagar. Family members were contacted and later confirmed that the charred body was that of Haq, aged 32.Investigators said it remains unclear whether the fire started while the car was moving or after it was parked. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death and to help establish whether the victim succumbed to burns, smoke inhalation or other factors.Haq’s father, Hamidul Haq, told police that his son ran a medical store in Aminabad. According to him, Almas left home at around 9.30 pm after receiving a phone call. Around ten minutes later, the family spoke to one of Almas’s friends, who allegedly said he would return shortly.The family said three policemen reached their residence around 12.15 am and asked them to come to Bakshi Ka Talab police station without disclosing the reason. They learnt about the death only after arriving at the police station.The deceased is survived by his wife, Ikra Almas, and their three-year-old daughter. The father told police Almas had no known personal enmity or disputes.Police said all angles are being examined, including accidental fire, mechanical failure and other circumstances that could have led to the blaze.
