Lucknow: A 14-year-old Class VI student allegedly died by suicide in Mau district on Monday after his mother refused to give him ₹50 for a mobile phone recharge.Police said that concerned about her son’s growing addiction to online gaming, the woman declined his request and had stopped recharging the phone to reduce his screen time. Family members said he remained upset throughout the day and allegedly refused to eat.Around 4pm, after another argument, he locked himself in a first-floor room. When he did not respond for a long time, his mother looked through the ventilator and found him hanging. The family broke open the door and rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police sent the body for postmortem and said further investigation is underway.
