Lucknow: Out on morning walk, a 38-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Kakori area on Saturday. The driver and the vehicle remained unidentified. Police registered a case and launched an investigation using CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the vehicle and trace the driver.Family members of Sadhana Maurya, resident of Roshan Lawn area near Golakuaan in Kakori told police that she had gone for a morning walk with her neighbours, Girisha Maurya and Geeta Maurya.The three women were walking on the roadside when a speeding vehicle rammed Sadhana. Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that she was thrown nearly 15 feet away into the bushes. She suffered critical injuries and died on the spot, police said. In the accident, Girisha Maurya too sustained minor injuries, while Geeta Maurya escaped unhurt.People present nearby, along with family members, rushed Sadhana to Era Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Sadhana is survived by her husband Anand alias Tinku Maurya, a son and a daughter. Her husband is employee of a retail chain. Inspector Satish Chandra Rathore said a case was registered against the unidentified driver.
