Lucknow: Several functionaries from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) and Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar), along with their supporters, joined the Congress in New Delhi on Tuesday in the presence of UP Congress in charge Rajendra Pal Gautam.Among those who switched sides were NCP (SP) UP vice-president Balvinder Singh, NCP (AP) scheduled caste department national coordinator Vijender Valmiki, and Nyayik Seva Sangathan president Dhananjay Pasi.Welcoming the new entrants, Gautam said the growing support for the Congress reflected the desire for political change in UP. “The Congress family in Uttar Pradesh is continuously growing. This expanding support sends a clear message that the state wants change,” he said.He added that the party remained committed to the protection of the Constitution, social justice, fraternity and democratic values, and called upon the new members to work towards building a stronger, more inclusive and just UP.
