The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has reportedly changed its interview process due to a shortage of members in the commission, according to a report published by local Gujarati media. The report said that five of the seven sanctioned member posts in the commission are currently vacant, leaving only two members in place. Against this backdrop, candidates appearing for recruitment processes may now have to face a common interview instead of the earlier system of individual interviews. The issue has sparked concern among some aspirants. According to the report, candidates have questioned the decision and expressed reservations about the new interview format. They believe the change could affect the way candidates are assessed during the recruitment process. The report noted that recruitment examinations are continuing despite the vacancies. However, the shortage of members has raised questions about how interviews and other stages of the selection process will be conducted. The state government, meanwhile, has maintained that it will not leave all vacant posts in the commission unfilled. The report quoted the government’s position that appointments to the vacant positions would be made. The development comes at a time when several recruitment processes are underway in the state, making the functioning of the commission an important issue for thousands of aspirants awaiting government jobs.
