Lucknow: A 2021 batch BSc Nursing student from Kannauj, Ritika Rajan, will receive gold medal at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University’s convocation on Wednesday after topping the state among nearly 6,000 students from 178 affiliated colleges. Lokpriya from Bareilly, who secured the second-highest aggregate, will receive the silver medal.ABVMU vice-chancellor Dr Amit Devgan said women dominated this year’s medal list, as 40 of the 55 gold and silver medal recipients are of the fairer sex. The medals will be awarded across BDS, MD, MS, nursing and paramedical courses. Governor and university chancellor Anandiben Patel will present medals to 25 awardees. The university will confer degrees on 11,053 students, including 7,618 women and 3,435 men.Defence minister Rajnath Singh will be chief guest at the convocation, while deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak will be the special guest. Surgeon vice-admiral K M Adhikari will also attend.Dr Devgan said ABVMU and its affiliated institutions will undertake a plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on Sunday. Pathak will launch the drive, under which more than 1.5 lakh saplings will be planted.
