Lucknow: Over 19.9 lakh candidates will appear for the Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET-2026) scheduled on July 2-4.Conducted by the UP Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj, the test will be held at 955 centres across 60 districts.According to the commission, candidates for the upper primary level (classes VI-VIII) will appear in both shifts on Jul 2 and the first shift on Jul 3, while candidates for the primary level (classes I-V) will appear in the second shift on Jul 3 and the first shift on Jul 4.UPSSSC chairman Prashant Kumar said all examination-related arrangements have been completed at every centre. “The connectivity of all centres has been tested from the commission’s control room,” he said.One retired IAS officer and one retired IPS officer have been nominated as observers for each district. In accordance with the directions of the govt, prohibitory orders will remain in force around the examination centres.District magistrates, senior police officers and their monitoring teams will continuously inspect the examination centres, said a govt spokesperson. Adequate police force is being deployed at the centres by the district administration.Kumar said strict action will be taken under the UP Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 against any person, institution or party concerned involved in facilitating cheating or affecting the integrity and confidentiality of the examination.The use of any electronic device, mobile phone, etc, by candidates at the examination centres is completely prohibited. The govt has also issued directions for adequate security and medical arrangements to deal with any emergency situation, Kumar said.He added, “Candidates should not fall prey to any rumours or misinformation and should verify information through the commission’s website at www.upessc.up.gov.in and its ‘X’ handle @upesscprayagraj.”
