NEW DELHI: Intelligence and law enforcement agencies have uncovered that gangster-turned-terrorist Shahzad Bhatti, operating from Pakistan, is the mastermind behind the propaganda and operations of a newly emerged outfit named Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH). The deeper conspiracy unraveled following two recent operations by the agencies and Delhi Police special cell, sources said. In the first operation, the cell apprehended a man named Sohail, who has a prior criminal record, from Delhi. Investigations revealed that Bhatti had assigned Sohail the task of painting “TTH” graffiti across prominent walls and locations in Delhi and Faridabad. Sohail was specifically instructed to paint the letter “S” beneath the TTH acronym to signal Bhatti’s personal signature behind the outfit. Financial mobilization from Pakistan was also established, as Bhatti had paid Sohail for executing this “test task”.Further investigations have exposed a more sinister plot involving the targeted killing of police personnel, driven by Bhatti and backed by the ISI. The Delhi Police Special Cell recently arrested three youths who were found to be in direct contact with Bhatti, Jatt, and Gujjar. Bhatti had ordered the trio to record videos displaying firearms and to film themselves shooting a policeman, promising hefty financial rewards in return.Following these instructions, the three accused tracked a Uttar Pradesh Police personnel and filmed the pursuit. They attempted to open fire at the officer, but the country-made pistol jammed, failing to discharge. When the policeman turned around, the suspects fled the scene before eventually being tracked down and arrested by the Special Cell.“These two interconnected cases have helped establish that the TTH is a front driven by Bhatti with the strategic backing of the ISI, aiming to spread terror propaganda and execute targeted attacks against law enforcement officers in India,” said a senior officer. Working in tandem with the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and his Pakistan-based associates, Abid Jatt and Ajmal Gujjar, Bhatti has been actively orchestrating subversive activities and target killings on Indian soil. Efforts are underway to track other members of Bhatti’s modules.
