JAMMU: BSF detained a 53-year-old Pakistani man who allegedly crossed over the international border in J&K’s Akhnoor sector and sneaked into Indian territory late Monday.“BSF personnel deployed at Malabela border outpost in Khour area spotted suspicious movement and warned the intruder to stop. The suspect, however, continued to proceed, prompting troops to detain him,” an official said.“The suspect, who was taken to Malabela BOP for questioning, identified himself as Mohammad Rafiq alias Kala from Pindi village in Pakistan. A Pakistani ID card, spectacles, cigarette packs, a lighter, tobacco, some eatables, a nail cutter and wallet were recovered during frisking,” said the official.The suspect claimed he set out from Looni village in Pakistan to meet his married sister in Jung village, also in Pakistan, but had accidentally crossed into Indian territory after losing his way. “Investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the border-crossing. The suspect’s claims are being verified,” said an official source.
