NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump will be holding bilateral meeting in France on the sidelines of the G7 Summit being held in Evian on June 16-17, according to a senior US administration official. This will mark their first face-to-face interaction since PM Modi visited Washington in February 2025, shortly after Trump’s inauguration.The official said Trump plans to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders attending the summit, including those of France, Egypt and India. PM Modi is in France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the G7 summit on June 16-17 as guest.The expected meeting comes at a significant juncture in India-US ties, with both sides engaged in negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement and seeking to deepen cooperation across strategic, economic and technological sectors.If the talks take place as scheduled, PM Modi and Trump are likely to review progress in bilateral relations over the past year and discuss ways to expedite the conclusion of the proposed trade pact, which has emerged as a key priority for both governments.
