Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited Ganga Expressway from Hardoi district on April 29.“The occasion will mark a milestone in the state’s infrastructure development, directly benefiting crores of people,” an official said.The Ganga Expressway has a total length of 594 kilometres. It starts from Bijoli village in Meerut and ends near Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. This route will directly connect western Uttar Pradesh with the eastern region, strengthening the state’s economic and social framework and making travel faster, safer, and more convenient.The expressway will directly benefit 12 major districts including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj.A total of 519 villages will be connected through this project, accelerating economic activities in both rural and urban areas.At present, Uttar Pradesh accounts for around 55% of the country’s total expressway network. With the inauguration of Ganga Expressway, this share will increase to nearly 60%, further strengthening UP’s position as a leading state in expressway development.An official said, “Under the leadership of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh have been advanced at a rapid pace, and the Ganga Expressway stands as a strong example of this progress. After receiving approval from the cabinet in 2020, the project was taken up on priority and has been implemented in record time. The expressway is emerging as a strong foundation for building a ‘New Uttar Pradesh.”“Improved connectivity will reduce logistics costs, providing significant benefits to industries and trade. The expressway will act as a new industrial corridor, attracting investment and generating employment opportunities for the youth,” he added.The official said that the project would prove highly beneficial for farmers, as agricultural produce would reach markets quickly, improving quality and pricing. Strengthening the supply chain for perishable goods would also contribute to increasing farmers’ income, he said.“The Ganga Expressway will promote religious and cultural tourism. Improved connectivity to places like Prayagraj will increase tourist footfall and strengthen the local economy,” he said.
