Lucknow: Around 2.15 crore UP farmers are set to benefit when Prime Minister Narendra Modi releases the 22nd instalment of the PM kisan samman nidhi from Guwahati on Friday.UP alone accounts for 23% of the total 9.32 crore farmers who stand to be benefitted under the scheme. According to the agriculture ministry, an amount exceeding Rs 18,650 crore will be transferred to the beneficiary farmers through DBT. The eligible farmers in UP are estimated to receive around Rs 4,335 crore.This year, the Centre decided to celebrate the day as ‘PM kisan utsav diwas’.In UP, the state govt decided to make elaborate preparations from the level of state to district to divisional blocks and gram panchayats. According to an order issued by principal secretary (agriculture) Ravindra, the event will be webcast at the local level in the presence of public representatives, including MPs, MLAs and gram pradhans. Progressive farmers will also be invited on the occasion by the state govt. The Kisan Vigyan Kendra (KVKs), farmer producer organisations (FPOs) and primary agriculture credit society (PACS) will also be roped in to scale up the reach of the event.Since the scheme’s launch in 2019, approximately Rs 94,668 crore was directly credited to the bank accounts of farmers in UP.Official records from the PM Kisan portal show that over 2.1 crore eligible farmers were already seeded with verified land details in the state. The state govt was scaling up efforts to conduct a farmer registry, a digital database that provides every farmer in the state with a unique farmer ID. Part of the national AgriStack initiative, it aims to streamline access to govt schemes and subsidies by creating a single, verified digital identity linked to a farmer’s Aadhaar and land records.
