Lucknow: Around 4,800 establishments across six districts of the Lucknow EPFO region have registered under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), with nearly 1.9 lakh workers benefiting from the employment-linked scheme since its rollout in Aug 2025.According to EPFO, the Lucknow region, which covers Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Barabanki and Rae Bareli, has recorded about 60,000 first-time entrants into formal employment and around 1.3 lakh workers returning to employment under the scheme.PMVBRY, a Central govt employment incentive programme implemented through the EPFO, provides financial support to first-time employees and incentives to employers for creating additional jobs. The scheme is aimed at expanding formal employment and social security coverage, particularly in the manufacturing sector.As part of a nationwide outreach programme on June 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address beneficiaries and employers associated with the scheme and oversee the digital transfer of Rs 2,400 crore in incentives across the country. Appointment letters will also be distributed to selected beneficiaries.In Uttar Pradesh, a state-level event is being organised by EPFO at Indira Pratishthan in Lucknow. Employees, employers and other stakeholders from across the state are expected to participate in the programme.The PMVBRY scheme, approved with a total outlay of Rs 99,446 crore, aims to support employment generation and improve workforce participation between Aug 2025 and July 2027.
