Lucknow: An internal inquiry at Lok Bandhu Hospital has found a senior consultant and two staff nurses of the gynaecology department negligent in connection with the death of a newborn on Sunday.Hospital director Rajesh Kumar said the three-member committee recorded statements of doctors, nurses, ward attendants and other staff present during the delivery. It found that the consultant and two nurses were absent from duty at the time of the delivery.“The baby was found to be stillborn. Other doctors and nurses on duty assisted in the delivery,” Kumar said. The report has been sent to the Director General, Health, for further action, Kumar said. The inquiry was ordered after the family of the woman, Kirti Pal of Aashiana, accused the hospital of negligence. Her husband, Shubham Pal, alleged that doctors delayed her admission and ignored repeated requests to conduct the delivery despite her worsening condition. The family however, alleged that the woman delivered the baby inside the ward and that the newborn fell to the floor, suffering a fatal head injury.
