Lucknow: In a bizarre incident in Gudamba, police on Saturday arrested a 31-year-old self-styled practitioner accused of biting off, and severing part of a man’s finger during an argument over delayed medical treatment.The accused, identified as Tayyab Ali alias Dr Tayyab Ali, was arrested from a ground behind MD Palace near Tedhipulia, police said.According to police, the complainant, Fazlu alias Rafiq, a resident of Ahilyabai Nagar near Kalyanpur, lodged an FIR alleging that the accused assaulted him, bit his finger and threatened to kill him during a dispute on May 14.“During questioning, the accused told police that he had pursued ‘Kamil’ and ‘Fazil’ courses from a madrasa under the Madrasa Education Board and claimed these were equivalent to a BUMS qualification,” Gudamba SHO, Anjani Kumar Mishra said.The SHO said that the accused claimed he had been treating the complainant’s son for hydrocele and that the treatment was taking time to show results. However, the complainant allegedly wanted an immediate cure, leading to an argument at the clinic.“As the altercation escalated into a physical fight, the complainant’s finger got bitten and severed during the scuffle,” the accused was quoted as saying by the police.Police have booked the accused under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to voluntarily causing hurt, grievous hurt and criminal intimidation.
