Lucknow: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday approved the promotion of 28 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers of Uttar Pradesh to the Indian Police Service (IPS), issuing the long-awaited notification late in the evening.The promoted officers belong to the 1997 to 2000 PPS batches and are currently serving in various units of the Uttar Pradesh Police, including district police, specialised agencies and police headquarters.However, 1993-batch PPS officer Sanjay Kumar Yadav did not figure in the promotion list because of some departmental probe against him.Among the officers elevated to the IPS are DGP’s Public Relations Officer Rahul Srivastava, Purnendu Singh attached to the DGP Headquarters. Additional SP Kamal Kishore, additional SP Suresh Chandra Rawat posted in Mathura, and Shoeb Iqbal, currently serving in the Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO), ASP West Barabanki, Vikas Tripathi, ASP Etawah Abhay Nath Tripathi and others. The promotions were cleared after the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) process and formal approval by the Union Government.The promotion is expected to strengthen the senior leadership of the Uttar Pradesh Police, with the newly inducted IPS officers becoming eligible for postings in key supervisory and command positions across the state.
