Lucknow: Emphasising how law and order improved under BJP govt since 2017, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that when Samajwadi Party was in office, rioters used to be felicitated in the CM’s house. Now, he said, if someone threatens to riot, he would say: “Come, I will teach you how riots are done.”Giving two examples to the audience at an event in Ambedkar Nagar to show them what the situation was like under SP, the CM said: “In Sambhal, an SP goonda tried to create riots but now govt has brought him down to his knees and rubbed his nose in the dust. Another goonda was getting riots done in Bareilly. Once he threatened with riots and the administration got a little worried. I said let him come and we will deal with him. Now the Maulana is in jail and pleading for his life.”Saying that BJP strongly believed in democratic structures, the CM mentioned the recently concluded monsoon session of the UP Assembly. He said govt presented a supplementary budget of Rs 59,000 crore and was hopeful of having constructive discussions on the poor, youth, women and farmers but SP did not allow the House to function.“We brought a scheme to pay respect to social reformers like Valmiki, Sant Guru Ravidas, Ambedkar, Shahuji Maharaj and Jyotiba Phule, by building a boundary wall around their memorial and a canopy but SP did not allow this discussion. We wanted to increase the honorarium for ASHA and anganwadi workers but SP did not allow the House to function. I have come to assure you that SP has no interest in development works or the poor,” the CM said.He alleged that under SP govt there was only anarchy and riots everyday. People would not get jobs without paying bribes and the state had acquired a reputation because of which youth from UP were shunned. Artisans were forced to migrate and traders were being harassed. Only those who were affiliated with SP, the CM said, extorting money. The state, he said, was now free of riots and curfew, youth were getting jobs and if someone tried to play with their rights, govt would not only send them to jail but also confiscate the earnings and properties of their ancestors and distribute them among the poor. Before 2017, the CM added, the monsoon season was known for encephalitis, dengue, malaria, chikungunya etc but now people know that they are safe.In Ambedkar Nagar to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 194 development projects worth Rs 706.81 crore, the CM said that if anyone wanted to see a model of development, they should visit Ambedkar Nagar. It was already connected with two expressways and was going to be developed as a focal point of the north-south corridor.“Every district is getting recognition and development is happening without any bias. A govt needs time and vision for development. Before 2017, the CM did not have time. He did not go to Noida because he feared he will lose his chair. When I became CM and was making plans to go there, I was also warned. I said if my chair has to go tomorrow, it can go today itself but I have come for people and I will meet them,” he said.He further added that it was not possible for parties like SP and Congress to bring this kind of development as they had no respect for India’s traditions. They couldn’t handle themselves so they definitely could not handle the state’s 25 crore population.
