Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent stay on the production, promotion and release of the upcoming film ‘Kala Hiran: Battle for Legacy’, alleging that the project infringes upon his personality rights. In his petition, the actor has claimed that the filmmakers have used a lookalike resembling him and have even styled the character with his iconic bracelet. Salman has further alleged that the film’s promotional campaign has been leveraging his name to generate attention, according to a report by Aaj Tak. According to the plea, the movie’s release could not only damage his public image but may also influence ongoing legal proceedings linked to the 1998 blackbuck case. As a result, Khan has requested the court to restrain the makers from producing, promoting, releasing, streaming or circulating the film and any associated publicity material. The matter is expected to come up for hearing soon. Before moving the High Court, Salman had reportedly issued a legal notice to the filmmakers, demanding that all work related to the project and its promotions be stopped immediately. The notice asserted that the film draws inspiration from the actor’s blackbuck hunting case and argued that such a portrayal could tarnish his reputation, interfere with pending judicial proceedings and violate his personality rights. The notice further pointed out that the blackbuck case remains pending before the Rajasthan High Court. It argued that making a film based on an active legal matter could amount to interference with the administration of justice. It also contended that any dramatized or sensational depiction of the case could create prejudice against the actor and affect his right to a fair trial.‘Kala Hiran’ first sparked widespread discussion after its makers unveiled the film’s poster last month. The project is said to be inspired by the blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan and combines elements of courtroom drama and crime thriller. The film reportedly also explores the widely discussed conflict between Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi through a cinematic lens.
