Lucknow: Acting on the directives of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the Sambhal district administration freed public land from encroachments on gram sabha land in two villages.Officials said that the administration remained alert during the operation and ensured that no law-and-order situation arose.In village Bicholi of Sambhal tehsil, illegal constructions of an Imambara and an Eidgah had been carried out on land reserved for manure pits and grazing land.Following due legal process, the tehsildar court issued an eviction order on Jan 31.As no appeal was filed against the order, the officials removed the encroachments.In village Mubarakpur Band, constructions of mosque and madrassa were found on gram sabha land. The administration gave the parties an opportunity to remove the structures on their own, but citing lack of resources, mutawalli Nusrat Ali and others sought administrative assistance.Subsequently, the illegal constructions were removed on Friday.A total of 1.1 hectares of land in Bicholi and Mubarakpur Band was freed from encroachment.District magistrate Rajendra Painsia said that the drive was carried out based on revenue records and court orders.“The anti-encroachment drive will continue in the district, and illegal occupations will be removed,” he said.
