Lucknow: Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Monday urged students of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) to treat patients with compassion and dedication.Addressing the third convocation, Pathak congratulated students and said being a doctor carries responsibility towards society. “When people fall ill, they remember either God or a doctor. Doctors remove human suffering,” he said.He urged young doctors to join govt service and work with empathy, especially in crowded public hospitals. “No patient should leave disappointed,” he added.Pathak said India was progressing in sectors such as digital payments, agriculture, space and medical science, and urged students to keep learning beyond their field. He added that modern times demand innovation and risk-taking.Referring to the institute, Pathak said a 1,000-bed hospital has been approved to reduce patient load and improve facilities, and directed the administration to address issues of cleanliness and maintenance.Praising MBBS student Harman Singh, who received the Director’s Medal for highest aggregate marks, Pathak and state minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh said his achievement reflected rising opportunities for students from backward regions. They urged young doctors to continue learning and serve in rural areas.
