Lucknow: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Sunday organised a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) workshop for the mental well-being of health care workers in the hospital.The workshop included sessions on meditation, breathing exercises and stress management. Faculty members, resident doctors and nursing officers participated in the programme.Officials said an assessment at the institute found moderate emotional distress among healthcare professionals, highlighting the need for stress management programmes.Medical superintendent, Prof R Harsvardhan, stressed the need for structured wellbeing initiatives in hospitals, while director Prof RK Dhiman said mindfulness-based interventions can help reduce stress and prevent burnout.Officials said four online follow-up sessions will also be organized for the issue.
