Lucknow: Death of 24-year-old Anuchha Rai in the Aliganj fire has not only left her family shattered, it has robbed them of their sole breadwinner and plunged them into financial uncertainty.One of the 15 victims of the tragedy, Anuchha, was supporting her widowed mother, two younger sisters and a younger brother studying in Class VII. Residents of Shantinagar in Awadh Vihar Yojana under Sarojininagar, the family had already suffered a major setback in 2022 when Anuchha’s father died in an accident. Since then, the young woman had taken up responsibility of keeping the homefires burning.On Wednesday, Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and support. Describing Anuchha’s death as a loss not only for her family but for the entire constituency, he handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from his personal salary account to her mother.Recognising the family’s difficult circumstances, Singh also announced that his office would bear educational expenses of Anuchha’s younger brother until he completes Class XII.“No words can lessen the pain of such a tragic loss. Entire Sarojininagar stands with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” the MLA said.For the grieving family, however, the loss goes far beyond financial hardship. Anuchha was their pillar of support, their hope for a better future and the one who had stepped up after her father’s death. While the head of the family lost a daughter, siblings lost a guardian, and a family is left to rebuild from the ashes of an unimaginable tragedy.
