JAMMU: An Army jawan died after his service rifle allegedly went off accidentally in J&K’s Poonch district early Thursday, officials said.The soldier, Naik BD Rao, was posted with 16 Rashtriya Rifles at Draba, in Surankote sector. “He was deployed on night duty and was found dead at his post,” an official source said.His body was shifted to Surankote sub-district hospital for medico-legal formalities. An inquiry was underway, sources said.On June 4, an Army soldier was injured in a similar mishap after his service rifle accidentally fired while he was on duty in a forward area in Bolnoi sector of Mendhar, Poonch.
