Lucknow: Senior advocate Satyendra Kumar Pandey on Friday said that the govt’s fuel conservation campaign has been reduced to a one-day photo-op and social media exercise, adding that sustained efforts are required for the success of such drives. He said that following the Prime Minister’s appeal, politicians and officials came out on the streets with bicycles for just a day to impress their seniors and the Prime Minister. However, the same people are seen using convoys and govt vehicles on other days.“If the government is genuinely serious about environmental protection and fuel conservation, the campaign should not be used merely as a publicity tool. As long as the country continues to struggle with pollution, climate change and fuel shortages, such thinking needs to be adopted consistently,” Pandey said.“Public now understands that change will not come through a one-day bicycle ride, but through honest policies and sustained efforts,” he said.
