Lucknow: A 14-year-old domestic help was found hanging at the residence of a former govt in the Balaganj Railway Colony in Thakurganj. The girl’s family has accused the retired official’s son of attempt to rape and murder. Angry family members later placed the body at a nearby intersection and blocking the road for nearly 3 hours. The victim from Sitapur district worked as a domestic help at the house of the official who retired from the Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. The accused works in the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies in Lucknow. The girl had been working at the house for last six months and lived there since the former officials had suffered brain haemorrhage and his wife is a cancer patient.Vishwajeet Srivastava, DCP (West Zone), said a murder case has been registered against the accused. “The postmortem report mentioned hanging as the cause of death, but viscera has been preserved for further investigation. Rape allegations were not found prima facie,” he said.The girl was found dead on March 8 morning. Around 11 am, the accused’s mother informed the girl’s father that his daughter had died by suicide. However, when the family reached the house they found the body lying on a bed, raising suspicion. The girl’s father alleged that there were injury marks on her body and signs of tying on her hands and legs.The girl’s family alleged that the accused attempted to rape her and killed her when she resisted. They added that the accused and his family tried to pass the incident off as a suicide.After the postmortem, the family placed the body on the road on Sunday night and blocked the Balaganj crossing. Police later pacified the protesters and registered a murder case against the accused.
