Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ continued its dream run at the Indian box office. Headlined by Matt Damon, the epic fantasy adventure has crossed the Rs 70 crore milestone within its opening weekend.

As per a report on sacnilk, the film has already become Nolan’s biggest opener in India. ‘The Odyssey’ earned an estimated Rs 21.90 crore net on Sunday (Day 3) and a gross total of Rs 26.16 crore across 9,195 shows.The Day 3 earnings saw a minor dip of 0.5 per cent in collections from Saturday’s Rs 22 crore net.With this, the film’s total India net collection stands at an estimated Rs 61.30 crore, while its gross total collections now stand at an estimated Rs 73.19 crore after just three days in theatres.

‘The Odyssey ‘, which began its box office journey with an impressive Rs 17.40 crore net on Friday. It witnessed good growth at the ticket windows on Saturday, earning an estimated Rs 22 crore net (Rs 26.27 crore gross) before maintaining almost identical numbers on Sunday.The film had already scripted history on its opening day by becoming Christopher Nolan’s highest-opening film in India. It earned Rs 20.75 crore gross across all languages on Day 1, comfortably surpassing the Rs 17.50 crore gross opening of ‘Oppenheimer’.
‘The Odyssey’ english version to hit Rs 50 crore mark
The original English-language version has been driving the business, earning almost Rs 50 crore of the film’s total haul. As per the report, the film has earned an estimated Rs 48.5 crore thus far. while the Hindi dubbed versions comes in second, followed by the Tamil and Telugu versions.With its opening-day performance, ‘The Odyssey’ overtook the first-day collections of Nolan’s previous releases, including ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Tenet’, ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Dunkirk’, setting a new benchmark for the acclaimed filmmaker in the Indian market.
Nolan’s top global debut
The film has also opened to exceptional numbers worldwide. As per trade reports, the film debuted with an estimated USD 124.5 million at the North American box office and another USD 139.6 million from international markets and scored a global opening weekend of over USD 264 million.The debut marked Nolan’s biggest opening since 2012’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
