Lucknow: A humorous one-act play, ‘The Seduction’, was staged on Tuesday as part of the second day of a three-day theatre festival at the International Buddhist Research Institute, Vipin Khand, Gomti Nagar.The play was originally written by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov while it has been adapted and directed by Tushar Bajpai.The plot follows an arrogant man who prides himself on seducing other men’s wives and accepts a challenge to woo the wife of a wealthy but naive man. The narrative unfolds through humorous situations and witty exchanges, culminating in a twist where the arrogant seducer is outsmarted and becomes the victim of deception.Bajpai said, “The play aims to transport audiences into a lighter world and help them momentarily forget their problems.”The play was organised by the Culture Department, New Delhi, and Akanksha Theatre Arts.
