Lucknow: Lucknow Police on Sunday arrested two alleged chain snatchers involved in robbing a 59-year-old woman in Gomti Nagar and recovered ₹9,200 in cash along with the scooter used in the crime.The accused, Akash Kumar alias Rajan Shukla, 19, and Amit Kumar Awasthi, 26, were arrested near the Sahara Overbridge by a joint team of the East Zone Crime and Surveillance Unit and Gomti Nagar Police.The incident occurred on July 16, when the victim, Rajkumari, was allegedly pushed from behind before her gold chain was snatched. Investigators tracked the accused using CCTV footage, technical surveillance and local intelligence.Police said the stolen chain had been pledged at a Manappuram Finance branch in Vikas Nagar for ₹23,700, and the money was shared among three accused. The recovered cash represents part of those proceeds. The scooter used in the offence was also seized. Police have added further charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are searching for the absconding third accused.
