UP-112 CONCLUDES FOUR-DAY TRAINING FOR DISTRICT NODAL OFFICERS TO IMPROVE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TIMELucknow: In a major initiative to further strengthen and modernise Uttar Pradesh’s integrated emergency response service, UP-112 conducted a four-day specialised training programme for gazetted district nodal officers from across the state at its headquarters in Lucknow.Organised under the directions of Director General, UP-112, Binod Kumar Singh, the programme focused on enhancing officers’ technical and administrative capabilities with the primary objective of reducing the response time of Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) and improving the overall quality of emergency services.Officials from two police zones participated in the training each day, where they were briefed on the latest technological systems, operational procedures and coordination mechanisms used by UP-112.During the programme, officers received hands-on training in the operation and monitoring of advanced equipment installed in PRVs, including Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs/iPads), body-worn cameras, PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras and GPS-based live vehicle tracking systems.The participants were also trained on the various channels through which citizens can seek emergency assistance. Besides the emergency helpline, officers were briefed on UP-112’s social media-based response mechanism, enabling the public to seek immediate assistance through WhatsApp (7570000100), Facebook, X and Instagram.The training highlighted UP-112’s integrated emergency response model under the theme “One Number, Multiple Services,” explaining how the emergency service coordinates with agencies including the Fire Services, Ambulance Services, Government Railway Police (GRP), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Women Power Line 1090, and the Chief Minister’s Helpline to provide comprehensive assistance during emergencies.Special sessions were also conducted on flagship public outreach initiatives, including the Savera Scheme for the safety and assistance of senior citizens and the Women PRV and Escort Scheme aimed at enhancing the security of women and girls.Addressing the participants during the concluding session, DG UP-112 Binod Kumar Singh directed all district nodal officers to make sustained efforts to further reduce PRV response times so that police assistance reaches victims at the earliest.He also instructed officers to conduct regular and surprise inspections of PRVs in their respective districts to ensure operational efficiency, proper maintenance of equipment and adherence to service standards.Emphasising the importance of public participation, Singh asked officers to undertake extensive awareness campaigns so that citizens become familiar with the advanced services and welfare initiatives offered by UP-112.Police officials said the training programme was designed to make the state’s emergency response system more efficient, technology-driven and citizen-centric.
