Gorakhpur: Launching projects and welfare schemes worth Rs 926 crore in Gorakhpur on Sunday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that people from UP are moving forward with pride as the state has emerged as the growth engine of the country’s economy.“Shedding the BIMARU tag, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a growth engine for the national economy over the past nine years. The state now commands respect across the country, contrary to the negative perception that prevailed in the minds of investors in the past,” he said.“People from UP are moving forward with pride. Benefits of growing infrastructure are visible. The state is progressing while preserving its cultural and spiritual heritage,” Yogi said.Focusing on Gorakhpur, the CM said the city saw a major improvement in law and order and basic facilities. “There was a time when people associated Gorakhpur with fear. The situation has changed and the transformation has only yielded positive results for the businessmen and traders from the city,” he said.He also launched the second phase of the State Nutrition Mission, stressing maternal and child health, especially during the first 1,000 days of life.“A healthy mother ensures a healthy child. These early days are crucial for a strong future,” he said, adding that proper care during this period strengthens society and the nation.“The transformed Gorakhpur symbolises the new identity of a changing Uttar Pradesh and a Viksit Bharat. Projects worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore for Gorakhpur city were inaugurated and launched today. The day was also historic and significant for Uttar Pradesh as the second phase of the state’s Suposhan Mission was being launched. Around 20 million children across the state will benefit from this initiative in the coming years,” Yogi said.“This is the transformed environment in which you live today. The crisis of identity is over. People now respect you. Uttar Pradesh has changed and earned a new identity,” he said.“No one looks at the state with suspicion anymore. Wherever a citizen of Uttar Pradesh goes in the country, they are greeted with ‘Jai Shri Ram.’ Whether in the north, south, east, or west, people receive pride and respect. Today, 250 million people of Uttar Pradesh are moving forward with this new identity,” Yogi added.He described Uttar Pradesh as the ‘New Uttar Pradesh’ of a ‘New India’, progressing continuously while honouring its heritage, faith, and ancestors. “This Uttar Pradesh is not going to stop,” he asserted.CM tries hands on hockey stickChief minister Yogi Adityanath tried his hands on a hockey stick while touring the international level astroturf during his visit to Gorakhpur. MP Ravi Kishan also joined him in the game. The CM also interacted with the young players who are part of the district hockey team.
