LUCKNOW: The final electoral roll published by the Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission for the upcoming three tier panchayat elections has revealed a gender gap of more than 85 lakh voters, with male electors significantly outnumbering female voters across the state.The roll records 12,58,51,570 voters, including 6,71,92,437 men and 5,86,59,133 women, leaving a gap of 85,33,304 voters between the two genders. The figures indicate that women account for nearly 46.6 per cent of the total electorate.District wise data show that Jaunpur has the highest number of both male and female voters in the state. The district has 19,60,777 male voters and 17,36,599 female voters, taking its total electorate to 36,97,376, the highest among all districts. Azamgarh follows with 19,24,128 male voters and 16,52,159 female voters, while Prayagraj has 18,58,170 male voters and 16,37,033 female voters.Among female voters, Jaunpur tops the list with 17.36 lakh women electors, followed by Azamgarh at 16.52 lakh and Prayagraj at 16.37 lakh. Sitapur ranks fourth with 14,53,060 female voters, while Lakhimpur Kheri has 13,62,364 women voters. Gorakhpur recorded 13,74,150 female voters and Hardoi 13,14,104.In terms of male voters, Jaunpur leads with 19.60 lakh electors, followed by Azamgarh with 19.24 lakh and Prayagraj with 18.58 lakh. Sitapur has 16,64,969 male voters, Gorakhpur 15,88,992, Hardoi 15,59,143 and Lakhimpur Kheri 15,24,926.The state’s largest electorate is concentrated in eastern Uttar Pradesh districts. Besides Jaunpur, Azamgarh and Prayagraj, districts with electorates above 30 lakh include Sitapur with 31,18,029 voters. Gorakhpur has 29,63,142 voters, while Lakhimpur Kheri and Hardoi account for 28,87,290 and 28,73,247 voters respectively.At the other end of the spectrum, Gautam Buddh Nagar has the smallest panchayat electorate with 2,09,562 voters, followed by Ghaziabad with 4,56,882 and Mahoba with 5,88,137 voters. The data show that male voters outnumber female voters in every district covered under the panchayat electoral roll.
