Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s performances in IPL 2026 could lead to an India call-up, with the 15-year-old now in contention for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland.According to a report by The Indian Express, the young batting prodigy has been shortlisted by selectors, who are tracking his performances ahead of the June tour, where a young squad is expected.“He is in contention for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with those of many other players,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.The report adds that selectors are considering a fast entry for Sooryavanshi into international cricket, based on his approach against leading bowlers in the IPL.At 15, the left-hander has built a reputation for taking on established names.If selected, he could become the youngest debutant in Indian cricket history. The current record is held by Shafali Verma, who made her debut at 15 years, seven months and 27 days. Among men, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record, having debuted in 1989 at 16 years and 205 days.For now, it remains a possibility, but his start in IPL 2026 has brought it closer.Sooryavanshi has recorded several crucial innings this season in IPL, including 78 off 26 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, 52 off 17 against Chennai Super Kings, and 39 off 14 against Mumbai Indians.His performances have come against bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood.Earlier, he was also part of India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign.India are set to play a T20I series in Ireland at the end of June, with matches scheduled for June 26 and 28.
