Lucknow: While remembering the supreme sacrifice of the brave defence personnel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday paid tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil war.Participating in the Kargil Vijay Diwas, Yogi through social media platforms first greeted the people and called the day an immortal symbol of the bravery and dedication of the country’s armed forces.Paying homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives while defending the nation, Yogi said he salutes the Indian Army and said their sacrifice for the motherland would always be remembered. His message highlighted the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas as a day of national pride and gratitude.Recollecting Operation Vijay, that was launched successfully in 1999 to reclaim the territory that was occupied by Pakistani troops, Yogi urged everyone to take out time to salute the brave men in uniform.

The day is observed every year to honour the soldiers who fought in the conflict. Several senior BJP leaders, including union minister of state for finance and state president Pankaj Chaudhary, deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, among others, also paid tributes to the army personnel.
