The West Bengal Board has announced the Higher Secondary Examination 2026 results, with the Science stream emerging as the best-performing category by a massive margin. Science students recorded an impressive 99.19 per cent pass percentage, significantly higher than both Commerce and Arts streams. According to the official result data released by the board, 1,11,288 students appeared from the Science stream this year, and 1,10,383 successfully cleared the examination. The stream missed a perfect 100 per cent result by less than one percentage point.
Commerce students also posted a strong performance, recording a pass percentage of 93.67 per cent. Out of 37,671 candidates who appeared, 35,285 passed the examination. Meanwhile, the Arts stream registered the lowest pass percentage among the three major categories at 89.19 per cent. A total of 4,77,299 Arts students appeared for the examination, out of which 4,25,687 passed. The overall pass percentage in the WBCHSE Higher Secondary Examination 2026 stood at 91.23 per cent.West Bengal HS Result 2026 out: How to check Class 12 marks on official webiste, TOI portal The stream-wise grade distribution further highlighted the strong performance of Science students. In the highest scoring brackets, Science candidates dominated the A++, A+ and A grade categories. As many as 3,678 Science students secured A++ grades, while over 25,000 obtained A+ marks. The stream also produced nearly 50,000 A-grade scorers. The results were declared on May 14 during a press conference held at Vidyasagar Bhavan in Salt Lake, Kolkata. Students can access their marksheets online through the official WBCHSE result websites.
