Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said the Ram temple donation embezzlement has eroded the trust of public so badly that they will neither give donations nor votes to the BJP anymore.“The BJP has played with the faith and belief of the common man. They will neither get donations nor offerings nor votes,” Akhilesh said.He added that those who wanted to hold UP elections in Nov should plan for polls in Sept itself as the Samajwadi Party was prepared for it.Though Assembly elections in the state are due in March 2027, there were speculations that the BJP wanted the Election Commission of India to advance the polls to Nov 2026.“The BJP first made a mockery of people’s faith and devotion and now it is preparing to toy with democracy and constitution,” Akhilesh said.Referring to developments in Ayodhya, he added that lawyers have voiced their anger over donation theft and the ongoing probe.Earlier in the day, members of the Faizabad Bar Association had filed a written complaint seeking an FIR against former general secretary of temple trust Champat Rai and member Anil Misra in connection with the donation theft.The former UP CM said BJP govt in the state always talked of zero tolerance towards crime and criminals but despite such large-scale irregularities at the Ram temple, none in govt got a wind of what was happening.Akhilesh condemns egg attack on MahuaCondemning the ‘egg attack’ on Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in West Bengal, Akhilesh accused the BJP of fostering political violence.Eggs and vegetables were hurled at the TMC MP as she came out of a party meeting in Kaliganj area of Nadia district in West Bengal on Wednesday. The MP accused the BJP of orchestrating the attack and named 11 persons in her communication to the local police.Akhilesh urged the Lok Sabha Speaker and the courts to take cognisance of the “highly condemnable” incident.In a post on X, Akhilesh accused the BJP of misusing power in states where it was in govt. “The BJP is creating a poisonous atmosphere of political violence and politicising the police. The people of the country are outraged by this negative and aggressive behaviour,” Akhilesh wrote in Hindi.
