NEW DELHI: New initiatives to strengthen Bihar’s inland fisheries ecosystem will be launched with the laying of foundation stones for an integrated aqua park at Bhojpur and a national fisheries development board regional centre in Patna Monday.“These initiatives aim to strengthen Bihar’s inland fisheries ecosystem through modern technologies, scientific resource management, employment generation and value addition, while supporting the transition towards a technology-driven, quality-focused and export-oriented fisheries sector,” read a statement.The foundation stones will be laid by minister for fisheries and animal husbandry Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary.The aqua park will include carp and catfish hatcheries, Brooder incubation units, biofloc systems, a fish feed mill, water quality and disease diagnostic laboratories, involving a total investment of more than Rs 31 crore. “…The project is expected to significantly strengthen seed availability, promote technology adoption and enhance farmer incomes in the region,” ministry said.
