Bahraich: Police registered a case against five members of a family in Bahraich after a woman accused her father-in-law of sexual assault and claimed that her husband later ended the marriage through triple talaq over the phone.Police said that the complainant was a resident of Lucknow who was married in 2023 to a man from Muslim Bagh locality of Rupaidiha town in Bahraich district under Muslim customs and traditions.In her complaint, the woman said that initial years of her marriage passed without any problem. She alleged that her father-in-law subjected her to sexual abuse on several occasions when her husband was away.She told investigators that the most recent assault took place on Jan 24.The complainant alleged that when she protested and informed family members about the incident, instead of supporting her, her mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law assaulted her.She claimed that her husband pronounced triple talaq during a telephonic conversation.Police said that further investigation was on.
