Lucknow: High drama unfolded near Gonda railway station on Friday when a woman climbed a railway tower with her three young children and refused to come down, insisting that she be allowed to live with her lover.The woman, identified as Geeta Devi, climbed the tower near the station escalator around 7.30am. Officials said she ascended nearly 100ft up the approximately 150ft-tall structure along with her children and demanded permission to live with one Ram Akabal Singh.Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the spot and spent several hours trying to persuade her to descend. However, she remained adamant.The rescue operation was eventually carried out by a four-member SDRF team, which climbed the tower and convinced the woman to come down.“The woman and her three children were rescued safely at around 4.30pm,” said Mahendra Prasad, assistant commandant, RPF, Gonda.The incident drew a large crowd of onlookers and disrupted normal movement in the area for several hours.
