Lucknow: A 29-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in the Thakurganj area on Wednesday. Her family alleged that she was beaten to death by her husband following prolonged domestic abuse.The deceased, Aarti, was married to Suraj alias Golu, a sanitation worker and resident of Raja Vihar in Thakurganj, on Dec 8, 2020. The couple had two children — Shivansh (4) and a 5-month-old daughter.According to Aarti’s father, Parmeshwar, a resident of Mal, Suraj called the family around 6 pm on Tuesday, informing them that Aarti’s health had suddenly deteriorated. The family immediately rushed to Lucknow.By the time the relatives reached the hospital, doctors declared Aarti dead. Family members alleged that she was subjected to harassment and physical abuse since her marriage and claimed that Suraj frequently assaulted her.Aarti’s elder sister, Suman, accused Suraj of misleading the family about Aarti’s condition. The relatives further alleged that they noticed blood oozing from her head and nose at the hospital, strengthening their suspicion that she was assaulted before her death.Thakurganj SHO Omveer Singh said the body was sent for a post-mortem, and further legal action would be taken based on the autopsy findings and the family’s complaint. Police said all angles, including allegations of domestic violence, are being investigated.
