Lucknow: Chief secretary SP Goyal on Tuesday reviewed preparations for Independence Day celebrations in Uttar Pradesh and said chief minister Yogi Adityanath will hoist the national flag at Vidhan Bhawan on Aug 15 and address the people of the state. Goyal directed that the programme be widely publicised and said Doordarshan Lucknow will provide a live telecast. Chief minister’s address will begin after 9 am and will be relayed by Information Department through a video link and displayed on LED screens.He ordered cultural programmes on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and patriotism at the venue, along with a photo exhibition showcasing the state’s achievements over the past nine years, the freedom struggle, and tales of valour. Information Department was asked to set up an exhibition titled ‘Uttar Pradesh Moving Towards a Developed State, Developed City, and Developed Village’, and create selfie points on related themes.All govt buildings will be illuminated in tricolour lighting ahead of the day. Lucknow Development Authority will create floral decorations from the CM residence to Vidhan Sabha and at major city sites. Lucknow DM will coordinate a helicopter flower shower. Bands will play patriotic songs at key intersections and parks. Goyal stressed security, fire safety, traffic, cleanliness, water and uninterrupted power.
