Akash Bajwa hosted a roundtable with engineering leaders from Anthropic, Stripe, NVIDIA, Google DeepMind, and xAI about how AI coding tools are reshaping developer workflows right now. The most striking detail: some organizations have already moved past mandatory human code review for certain repos, and verbose AI-generated comments – once seen as noise – are now valued because future agent sessions use them for context. Auth migrations that took weeks now take hours. Claude Code, which started as a terminal UI in late 2024, was deliberately built for models six to twelve months ahead of where they were at launch. The recurring theme is that developer skill is shifting from writing code to knowing when to trust AI output and when to intervene – a distinction that hiring managers at these companies are already screening for.
